Marc Chagall, Couple bleu au bord de l'eau, 1954

Marc Chagall created this piece during his honeymoon, using blue paper he found along the Côte d’Azur on the French Riviera. The painting depicts a couple floating in a loving embrace, with a neon goat in the foreground, showcasing Chagall’s avant-garde vision and the work’s enduring contemporary relevance. Art Market Liaison sourced this original work – made of gouache, watercolor and colored wax crayons over pencil on paper – as part of our efforts to expand a private collector’s Impressionist art collection.
