This pastel by the female American painter and printmaker Mary Cassatt was brought to us from an important estate. Art Market Liaison was tasked with selling the work at auction on the secondary market. While this American artist is often sold in American art auctions, our research led us to discover the work’s impressive provenance and exhibition history – including inclusion in the Sixth Impressionist Exhibition in Paris 1881. Our team successfully placed the work in Sotheby’s Impressionist Evening sale, ultimately securing the world record price at the time for a work on paper by the artist.
